For Teenagers

Many of us enjoy experiencing holistic therapies for ourselves, but what about our young people? More than ever, the pressures on our teenagers are huge. From general (& academic) stress & anxiety to social media peer pressure, hormonal changes to sleep deprivation; they are already experiencing many of the stressors and anxieties usually reserved for adulthood.

Why aren’t we doing more to help them?

Why are we saving the benefits of holistic therapies, such as reflexology, until they discover it on their own as adults?

 Reflexology can be of such a great importance to teenagers to promote their overall health

and well-being.

If we introduce teenagers to these therapies at a young age, then it will also encourage them to take an active role in taking care of their own health in the future. It is a valuable gift to give them.

Benefits of Reflexology for Teenagers

Sleep:   Regular reflexology sessions aid sleep, helping to promote a deeper and more regular sleep pattern.

Sleep research shows that teenagers need on average 9-10 hours of sleep a night. Hormonal changes, hectic school activities, social media, long hours on the internet and gaming, blue light exposure from electronics, an over stimulated brain and sleep disorders can all cause sleep deprivation. Lack of sleep can cause all sorts of effects such as concentration difficulties, mood swings, short attention span, lack of enthusiasm, depression, reduced sporting and academic performance, clumsiness.   The benefits of regular sleep are far ranging from creating a healthy immune system to a sharper more focused mind. Sleep is vital to our well-being.

Hormones:  Hormones start raging during the teenage years, often bringing acne, mood swings and headaches as a result. Reflexology can help to rebalance the Endocrine system thereby helping to manage and regulate those hormonal imbalances. For young women experiencing hormonal changes and difficulties from menstruation, reflexology can be an excellent way to alleviate pain and symptoms

Stress & Anxiety: Stress and anxiety is now a large part of teenage lives. Whether it is in the form of peer pressure, social media demands, high expectations (from teachers, parents or themselves) for academic or sporting success, tension from media coverage or hormonal changes to the body, it is a huge area for a teenager to cope with.

Neck Pain: Neck problems are now common in both children and teenagers due to poor posture when studying and from playing computers games or mobile phone usage. Reflexology can help to relieve the muscular tension that can arise as a result of these activities

In short, regular Reflexology sessions for teenagers and young adults may;

*Offer something a little different in a safe nurturing environment
